How long does the procedure take and what about downtime?
The treatment typically takes about 20-40 minutes (sometimes up to an hour), depending on the area treated. You can usually return to most of your normal activities fairly quickly.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
You’ll often notice an immediate lift effect (from the threads), and full results continue to develop over 1-3 months as collagen is stimulated. The effects can last roughly 12–24 months (or up to 2-3 years) depending on individual factors.
Will it look surgical or too done?
No. This is a minimally invasive treatment aimed at a refreshed and natural look rather than a dramatic “cut-and-tuck” result. It’s ideal for those with early to moderate skin laxity rather than major sagging.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes, when performed by trained professionals with high-quality materials. The dissolvable threads (made of polydioxanone) have been used in medical applications and this procedure carries relatively low risk.
What should I avoid before and after the treatment?
Pre-treatment: It’s best to avoid blood-thinning medications/supplements (e.g., aspirin, fish oil), intense exercise or saunas just before the treatment.
Post-treatment: Avoid rubbing or putting pressure on the treated area, sleep on your back with head elevated, avoid strenuous activity or very wide mouth movements for about a week. Some swelling or bruising is normal.
Who is a good candidate and when might this not be best?
Good candidates are adults with mild-to-moderate skin laxity who’d like a lift without surgery. Those with very heavy sagging, multiple previous surgeries, or unrealistic expectations may require different approaches.
What happens if I decide not to maintain the treatment long term?
Because the threads eventually dissolve and the collagen effect gradually reduces, your skin will slowly return (over time) toward its pre-treatment appearance. There’s no “rebound worsening.”
